Where We Are
The Abacos, situated in the northern Bahamas island chain, are known for their quiet serenity and unique, unspoiled tropical beauty. They are also known as the"family islands" due to their laid back atmosphere. You won't find any large hotels or condos in the area, just island living at its best. Villa Poincianna is on a very lush and lovely, 300-acre tropical island called "Lubbers Quarters" Cay (pronounced "key"), which is a short 15-minute boat ride from the town of Marsh Harbour, where you arrive by air.

Marsh Harbour is a one-hour plane flight from Miami, Fort Lauderdale,West Palm or Orlando. It's about 115 miles north of Nassau–and 150 miles east of the Florida coast; far enough away from the crowds. American Airlines, Continental Airlines, and US Airways fly to and from Marsh Harbour daily.

Secluded and Private, yet Convenient
The Villa is only 50 feet from the sea shore, surrounded by over 30 acres of private tropical forest–and you can explore all you like! And you have your own personal dock.

Spend your vacation, honeymoon or anniversary any way you like—you can go for many days never seeing another person, or you can easily get to local restaurants, shopping and nightlife, just a short 5- to 15-minute boat ride away.

The Island Experience
Known to the locals as "Lubbers," Lubbers Quarters Cay is one of the most unique islands you'll ever experience … palm trees, white sand soft as powder, broadleaf trees, cactus, orchids, hibiscus, bromiliads, countless songbirds and other beautiful tropical flowers–all for you to enjoy in your own private experience.

The rich flora thrives on Lubbers because the outer barrier islands protect us from the heavy winds of the open ocean. This makes Lubbers a very special place. It also means you'll enjoy a constant light breeze to keep you comfortable year-round.

Like picture postcards, many beautiful, deserted white sand beaches surround the area and you can always find coconut palms to provide cool shade (and a coconut for a cold pina colada or two!) on even the hottest days.

You'll quickly learn what the locals mean by "Bahamiantime" as you find true relaxation in your private island experience.

Weather and Water
If you haven't experienced the weather in the Bahamas, you're in for another wonderful surprise. The Abacos enjoy temperatures that average about 10 degrees warmer than southern Florida in the winter and 10 degrees cooler in the summer. The islands generally stay between 77 and 87 degrees F in the daytime and 65 to 75 at night, year-round. And the sun is hot! The water stays a comfortable 70 to 86 degrees F year-round, so it's always sure to be refreshing.

Beaches and Clear Blue Water
The Abacos are famous for their private, secluded white sand beaches–sand so fine and white you can't believe it's sand. Villa Poincianna is within a few hundred yards of a private, secluded beach on Lubbers, or just 1/4-mile from one of the most popular beaches in the area. Or if you're the exploring type, countless private beaches are yours for the day, only a few minutes boat ride away.

The water in the Abacos is something you'll never forget. Crystal clear, with 80- to 200-foot visibility and the most spectacular shades of blue you can imagine.
